Im worried about someone

If you are concerned for a family member, friend or colleagues well being, ask them how they are. They may take this opportunity to talk to you and could prove very beneficial to them.

Do not feel that you have to be able to solve their problems for them or be able to give them the right answers. Just letting the person know that they have someone confide in and talk to can be a major help.

Empathise with them, listen to what they are saying aswell as ask questions and avoid making judgements about their behaviour or thoughts.

Here are some useful questions you could ask if you are struggling:

  • How did it start?
  • What made you choose that?
  • How are you feeling?
  • How long have you felt like this?
  • Have you felt like this before?
  • What makes you feel better/worse?
